Contact

Emily joins MT+Co. after summer articling at a large regional firm in her hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and practicing as a corporate commercial lawyer at a national firm in Vancouver.  Emily is an entrepreneur at heart who is passionate about helping our clients formulate and implement their business plans.  When we first met Emily we immediately recognized she was a great fit.  We snapped her up as soon as possible.

Why MT+Co.?

“I fundamentally believe that law can and should be practiced differently, and I am excited that MT+Co. was built on this foundation and is driving this change.  I want to connect with my colleagues (and clients) in a more compassionate way, and right away I noticed that MT+Co. has a culture that is non-traditional, inclusive, and fun.  I appreciate that MT+Co. is driving innovation in law and is using technology to provide clients with more effective and efficient service.”

Expertise

Emily’s primary areas of practice are mergers and acquisitions, commercial law, corporate structuring and reorganizations. Emily also brings to MT+Co. experience working with entrepreneurs and small business owners.

In addition to her corporate work, Emily is passionate about giving back to the community.  She’s worked with non-profit organizations such as Lawn Summer NightsRight to Play, Power to Be, and the Hooplaw Society, all of which aim to harness the power of sport and physical activity to promote equality and children’s health and development.  Emily has also worked with organizations that support and promote female entrepreneurs and women in business.

Worth Noting

Emily spent her summers as a beach lifeguard in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA during her undergraduate degree and like any true sportswoman, she loves playing and watching most sport.  Most recently Emily has become an above average pickleball player (in case you were wondering, pickleball is North America’s fastest growing sport) and remains a self proclaimed below average lawn bowler.

When she is not traveling or trying new restaurants, she is considering getting a dog of her own.  But in the meantime, she’ll walk your dog any time for free!
