Chris practices corporate/commercial and intellectual property/licensing law with clean tech, media/software, entertainment and mission-based organizations. Prior to joining Miller Titerle LLP, Chris practiced with one of Vancouver's largest law firms.
Chris assists clients in many aspects of their life cycles, including:
- corporate structuring – incorporation, shareholders agreements and general commercial advice
- financing – debt and equity from private, venture capital and institutional investors, as well as government sources of funding
- technology development and commercialization – development and collaboration agreements, partnering transactions, in-licensing of technology and commercialization agreements
- mergers & acquisitions – share and asset sale transactions
- entertainment – funding and financing agreements, broadcast and distribution agreements, content and cast agreements and errors and omissions insurance matters
- climate change – carbon credit project development agreements, credit brokerage agreements, climate change statutory compliance
- privacy
Chris is a partner with BC Social Venture Partners, an organization that takes a venture capital approach to philanthropy, and is Co-Chair of the Building Opportunities with Business Inner City Society (BOB), which focuses on community economic development and employment support in Vancouver's Inner City.
Chris received his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Queen's University, and graduated from Windsor Law, where he won the President's Medal and the Faculty of Law Community Service Award. Subsequently, Chris clerked at the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa.
